Grand Dukes and Grand Duchesses, welcome to the Furoma Rift!

null

As you may have noticed, there aren't many Frift guides available out there. I myself spent way too much time perusing the wild wild web in search for a guide that would reassure me that Furoma Rift was 'doable' and not as scary as many people made it sound. Unfortunately, my search wasn't very successful and since I couldn't be bothered to keep looking I decided to start my own!

The Furoma Rift is in many ways like most new Mousehunt locations: everything sounds complicated and difficult until you dive in, do a first run, and then all starts to make sense and is actually pretty simple... ish.

This guide, which I wrote with the help of a teammate who doesn't wish to be named (but whose name strangely rhymes with Justinus), is a feeble attempt at walking you through some of the basics. I will be updating it as I go along. So do come back for updates.

Here we go.

Furoma Rift (aka Frift)

Basic Requirements

Rank: Grand Duke/Duchess

Map piece: Rift detector.

Trap: Multi Crystal Laser > Focused Crystal Laser > ... Bio-Molecular Reatomiser. I do not recommend using the Crystal Tower.

Base: Minotaur base > Fissure > Rift > Tidal > Depth charge > Any 10 Luck base.

Cheese: Magical String > Brie String for "outside" the Frift Pagoda. We'll talk about "inside" cheeses later.

Charm: Have a good pile of 5-12 luck luck charms ready. Enerchi charms will be used later.

Misc: Have a dozen Brift circuitries on hand. Also, a slayer aura wouldn't hurt.

Understanding the area

Let's get familiar with how things work here.

  • It's all about the Droid (really)

Upon arrival at Frift you will notice a very sad-looking little Combat Droid on the left handside of your new HUD. It's sad now because it's a weak, level 1 droid.

This Droid is your entry ticket to the Grand Pagoda. Once inside, Droidy is the one who will fight the fight for you (to the point that your trap becomes almost irrelevant).

The Droid relies on Batteries that run on a special kind of fuel called Enerchi, which can only be collected as loot from mice. Batteries 2 to 10 are broken and will need repairing with battery fragments dropped by the mice inside the Pagoda.

The Droid you see above is a level 1 battery Droid. I promise he gets happier as you level up! There are a total of 10 batteries to be fixed using battery fragments, tiny platinum bars and even rift circuitries for batteries above level 5. Once a battery is fixed, it is fixed forever and cannot be broken again.

Progress at Frift is all about upgrading those batteries. It will take time, blood, sweat and perhaps even a few tears.

  • How Enerchi works

There are two types of Enerchi: Droid Enerchi and Stored Enerchi, but you don't really have to worry about it. All you need to know is the more you have, the better!

But if you really must know...

Droid Enerchi is what's inside your current battery (the one you're hunting with). Should you decide to recall the droid, you will lose half of your droid enerchi charge.

Stored Enerchi is like your own little personal Enerchi stash. It only gets used when you fill up a new battery before going inside the pagoda.

Enerchi is collected mainly outside the pagoda. You will get some inside too but in lesser quantities. Later in the game you can farm it outside Frift but you'll need the Frift bases for that, anddd we are not there yet.

The higher the battery level, the more Droid Enerchi you'll lose upon catch/fta/ftc/pillage. So, again, the more Enerchi the better. For this reason, always choose your highest battery level to enter the Pagoda (this a general rule as you start out - you can choose to be more strategic later and enter with a lower battery if you are targeting particular mice and/or need to conserve your enerchi).

  • Cheese!

As you would expect, the regular Furoma cheeses (just like the mice) all have a Rift counterpart here. Check below for picture spoilers.

Note that you'll need Living Garden essences and Magic Essences to craft Maki String.

Also, before you ask how much cheese you need... You do not need to craft a huge amount of those special cheeses. A successful Frift run depends more on Enerchi and battery fragments collected inside the Grand Pagoda than on cheese.

Hunting at Frift

Here's a quick summary of what needs to happen now (preferrably in this order):

Battery levels 1 to 3

Goals:

- gather enerchi

- enter the grand pagoda

- collect battery fragments - repair battery 4

#1 gather Enerchi

This is what you'll do outside the pagoda to fill up your level 1 battery. Using Brie String is fine. Hunt using Magical String if you want to attract the Enlightened Labourer, who will drop up to 10 enerchi. Do not use Enerchi charms just yet, but a charm that gives you a +5-12 Luck boost instead.

Once your battery 1 is charged, enter the pagoda.

#2 gather battery fragments

Once inside the Pagoda, hunt using Magical or Maki String to attract students, until you get the fragments needed to upgrade the next battery. Catch rate at this stage is pretty low, and by low I mean nearly abysmal, so expect some red boxes. An ulti ancient charm, rainbow luck or ULC/ULPC for the richest among you won't hurt.

#3 repeat steps #1 and #2 until you've repaired/upgraded your battery to level 4.

Battery level 4

Goals:

- hunt students - craft master cheese (not too much) - catch one of each master type - craft enerchi induction base You can now drop Magical string and start hunting Students more seriously inside the pagoda with Maki String. Maki string will increase your Student attraction rate (just like regular maki does in the regular Furoma world).

Since your catch rate will get better from now on, you can safely swap your 5-12 luck charms for Enerchi Charms to boost your Enerchi drops, even better if paired with the Enerchi induction base, which you should be able to craft after your first 3 Master catches.

"Masters? But you said students?!" I know, I know. Hit those students and start crafting the Masters' cheeses, or Master Fusion, for the necessary loot/tokens. Our advice is to not craft too much Master cheese at first since you'll only need one of each master type for the base.

(see below)

  • Craft the Enerchi Induction Base

Power: 100 - Power Bonus: 10% - Attraction: None - Luck: 10

This base is the Frift equivalent of the Laby base, if you know what I mean. It's not very powerful and luck is inferior to the Rift base, yet it has that nice little special effect that makes it invaluable: it gives you 2 extra enerchi if you catch a mouse that drops Enerchi or when an Enerchi charm is equipped. You need to get this as soon as your battery level allows it (level 4). Remember, success in Frift depends largely on Enerchi, so this will come in very, very handy.

How do I get it?

In order to craft it, you'll need to get one loot item from each master type, one Rift Circuitry and 2,399,000 gold. It is part of the Rift Walker Set.

Battery level 5

Goals:

- hunt masters

- craft 20 pieces of rift rumble

At level 5 you can start going after more masters, though I personally would wait until batt 6. If you find your masters catch rate to be too depressingly low on batt 5, switch back to Maki and go after students until batt 6.

When ready to go after masters, craft your master cheese of choice (fusion or specific) and seek masters' loot (heirlooms) to help you craft the next cheese (rift rumble). This will take a while since your battery level is still a bit weak for masters. Even on batt 6 there will be misses. Be patient! Once you've gathered enough masters' loot to craft about 20 pieces of rift rumble, you can stop hunting masters and just focus on students until battery 8.

Lazy/Clever Tip (depending on your perspective): If you can afford it and want to move faster you can equip an Ultimate Charm with your first piece of onyx gorgonzola cheese for a guaranteed catch on Supreme Sensei. His loot (blossom branch) will allow you acquire the base upgrade more quickly. Repeat the process for the Frift trap M.Y.N.O.R.C.A.

Battery 6-8

Goals: - catch grand mojo(s) on batt 8

- craft attuned enerchi base - fix battery 9

Batt 6 to 8 will be your friends for a while. It takes ages to upgrade them. Now, let me present you with a couple of options on how to do that:

A) Keep hunting students until you fix battery 9. Catch rate is pretty good. Probably the safest and cheapest, though slightly longer, way. Then go after masters, gmojos and senseis on battery 9 and above.

B) Hunt both students and masters on batt 6 and 7. Some misses but shouldn't be too bad. Craft more rumble and go after masters and Gmojos on battery 8. Keep hunting until battery 9 is fixed. Craft some onyx null cheese and go after Gmojos on batt 9.

I went for B. I hunted masters on batt 8 and students on batt 7 to 5. Then recalled my droid at batt 4, and repeated the process until battery 9.

Now, if you haven't done so already, battery 6 would also be a good time to:

  • Craft the Attuned Induction Enerchi Base

Power: 500 - Power Bonus: 10% - Attraction Bonus: 10% - Luck: 10

This is the upgraded version of the Enerchi Induction Base. Just like you needed the Fracture Base to get Fissure Base in WWrift, you'll need the first to get the second. Luck is still only 10, which makes it inferior to Fissure, and only has 50 more power than Fissure. So why bother, might you ask? I hear ya. But then again, the special effects! This base not only gives you 3 extra enerchi, it also from time to time will yield extra battery fragments! Remember when I said success in Frift depends on Enerchi and battery fragments collected inside the Pagoda?

Another pretty rad thing it does is that it can be used anywhere in the kingdom to gather stored enerchi. ONLY if paired with an enerchi charm though. Note: My fave places to use this combo are the windmill and the gauntlet's lower tiers. I made lots of enerchi while working the little mice on gilded maps.

How do I get it?

Must own one Enerchi Induction Base, 1 Rift Circuitry and 1 Rift Blossom Branch (loot from Supreme Sensei) and 351,000 gold.

"I got the base! What now?"

I'd be surprised if you're not ready to get the Frift trap before Battery 9. But, not everyone has Ultimate Charms or can afford to progresss as fast due to limited Super Brie/magic essences stocks etc.

If you aren't ready yet, please:

**DO NOT ATTEMPT A GMOJO RUN ON BATTERY 8, however tempting**

I know you want those stones and that blossom branch for the trap but TRUST ME, unless you a) have lots of rumble to burn or b) don't mind sacrificing baitkeep charms on rumble and/or onyx cheese, going after gmojo and sensei on batt 8 is a bit of a suicide mission. There wil be misses and losses. Catch rate for Gmojo really is NOT good at all until battery 9. So unless you fit into either one of the two above mentioned categories, my advice is to arm yourself with patience (and save some sb/gold in the process). :)

If you are ready, however, then go!!!

  • Get the Frift trap: M.Y.N.O.R.C.A

Power: 1,835 - Power Bonus: 2% - Attraction Bonus: 5% - Luck: 5

Remember how annoying it was to try and find A.C.R.O.N.Y.M or S.L.A.C in your inventory before equipping them because of all the dots you had to type manually? Thought those days were over? Wronggg! Here's a bit of DHU for ya with that new ridiculously weird-looking name.

I want, I want! How do I get? Easy, tiger. More sweat, more blood and more tears. It's an expensive trap. It costs 16,400,000 gold, 1 Rift Blossom Branch (loot from Supreme Sensei), 8 Null Onyx Stones (loot from Grand Master of the Dojo) and 20 Rift Circuitries. Also, you need to have the Null Gauntlet, which you should have got in Burroughs Rift a long time ago.

But, what does it mean??? The Mysteriously unYielding Null-Onyx Rampart of Cascading Amperes (pause. breathe.) is, in my humble opinion, kind of like the Rift version of the Law Draw. The stats are pretty underwhelming if you ask me but it's nice and shiny a̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶d̶a̶y̶ ̶s̶t̶i̶l̶l̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶e̶s̶t̶ ̶R̶i̶f̶t̶ ̶t̶r̶a̶p̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶g̶a̶m̶e̶, so I suppose it gets a pass.

Battery 9

Goals - Grand mojo run - craft null onyx gorgonzola - buy M.Y.N.O.R.C.A (if not already done) Hopefully by now you should have a nice stash of rift rumble. Hunt Gmojos until battery is depleted. I love hunting Gmojos as they give lots of points and lots of gold! My favourite setup is Mynorca+Mino base+UPC (because I'm rich and I hate red boxes) but the attuned + enerchi combo works too.

At this stage your best weapon is patience. Gather those battery fragments (you'll need 1000 for battery 10), stock on up on those null onyx stones and start crafting onyx gorgonzola in preparation for supreme sensei runs on battery 10.

Little tip: do not use up all your tokens, heirlooms, stones and branches for cheese. Remember to save some as you'll need them to craft Ascended Cheese later.

Ascended Elder

Totally doable on Battery 9!

Before my battery 10 was fixed, I decided to test a little theory. After crafting my first 4 pieces of Ascended Cheese I decided to attempt an Ascended Elder run on battery 9. What can I say, I like living on the edge (or I just get really impatient)). I was pretty pleased with my catch rate: 15 elders caught, 4 misses.

Really? Awesome! So, can I do Gmojo and Supreme Sensei runs on battery 8 then?

Not exactly.

My theory/advice is to not attempt any Gmojo, SS or AE runs below battery 9. I tried, and catch rate was very poor for all. In my humble opinion, battery 8 really is only good for masters and below.

Note: I do not recommend an Ascended Elder run on battery 9 unless you have the following setup: MYNORCA + Mino base + Baitkeep Charms + Slayer aura, which is what I used. I wouldn't dare trying with anything less or it would just be a waste of resources.

Battery 10

Goals - AE runs, tournaments - Enerchi charms

- You're done - give yourself a pat on the shoulder!

Despite everything I said above, obviously battery 10 is still the best for Ascended Elder runs. You'll love the loot and the gold. If you're into tournaments, join FRIFT tournaments as battery 10 is kind of a minimum requirement, at least if you seek to place within the top 3.

What to do with my battery fragments?

Never thought you'd see the day when you'd have TOO MANY battery fragments? Well, those days are coming. Whatever extra frags you'll be getting from now on can be recycled and turned into enerchi charms, which you can trade for gold or sb+; also means you no longer have to buy them. Yippee.

What do I do with my life?

I dunno but you should feel pretty good about yourself right now. You can either dust off your feet, leave Frift and vow to never come back or you can keep collecting enerchi outside the area and repeat Gmojo, SS or AE runs for gold and loot and/or to prepare for a tourney.

Or you can enjoy your newly-found freedom to finish one of those pesky library assignments...

So here you go, folks.

I hope this helped.

Happy hunting! :)
